Don’t Start Your SEO Campaign Before Testing With an AdWords Campaign First!

first start an AdWords campaign and then your seo campaign

There are many ways to promote a web property, both paid and free. If your website is not just a hobby but you want to make it a business, you will have to use most of them. One of the most popular methods of bringing visitors to your website is Search Engine Optimization. SEO is an amazing way to increase your site’s traffic because if you manage to achieve a good position in Google Search for your main keywords, you will have constant traffic for quite some time and that traffic will be free. Of course, since many are trying to optimize their pages and gather links for them to appear on the first page of search results, it requires a lot of effort in order to rank against your competition. Is it worth starting an AdWords campaign for your website?

Is starting an AdWords campaign for your website really worth it?Long-gone are the times of the popular saying “build it and they will come” – it used to be the norm for websites. That being said, website owners now have numerous methods they can use to promote their websites including (but not limited to) SEO, Pay Per Click, Social Media and other methods.

When it comes to Pay Per Click (placing ads on other websites and paying only for visitors that click the ad and visit your website), Google AdWords is king. Don’t get me wrong, when testing Pay Per Click, you should always use more than one method. The reasoning behind it is simple: Read more…

TimThumb Vulnerability in a Nutshell

The TimThumb image resizing utility has been found vulnerable by allowing the remote execution of arbitrary code. TimThumb is widely used by many WordPress themes, both commercial and free, and this vulnerability is expected to have a great impact, since the script name returns 84 million results on Google searches alone.

TimThumb was created by Ben Gillbanks, who, after discovering the vulnerability – and after Matt Mullenweg (WordPress founder) suggested it – joined forces with Mark Maunder (WordThumb author). They created TimThumb 2, a complete rewrite of the original code, having security in mind, whilst adding the extra features WordThumb already had. It is now highly advisable to upgrade to the newer version. Authors claim that, although a rewrite, it is fully backwards compatible. Read more…

On being an ethical affiliate marketer

Are you an ethical affiliate marketer?

I saw a great ad for a WordPress plugin that would fit perfectly into my strategy and it’s features were 100% what I needed for my posts. It would really help me rank for my posts’ keywords much easier than before. We all need tools to help us do things more effectively don’t we?

To buy a product for my work I am asking my self the following questions:

  • Will it save me time? Yes that plugin is really going to help with that.
  • Is the price-tag relatively low? Yep 40-60 USD is a good price for that plugin.
  • Is it easy to use even for anyone whom I outsource work to? Yeap, this plugin is a no-brainer!
  • Are there many people endorsing it? Yep 39 + Marketers explicitly stated that they endorse the plugin. Seeing names that are very popular in the Internet Marketing sphere I was sure this was a very good plugin!
  • Will it make my business even a bit better? Check!

So I added the time I am wasting researching, Read more…

Is Google crazy going for a .co domain?

g.co url SortenerWhen .co domains got released one year ago I thought it would be a great idea for a domain for two reasons. The catchy domains that you wouldn’t be able to get otherwise and the misspell traffic (trying to write .com) that you would be able to get (yes I am evil like that)! After the smoke disappeared though, I didn’t see the domain extension catching up with the hype. Not many people used them to create authority sites and people just sticked up with .coms. Read more…

What happens if Google PageRank goes to 0 and what you can do about it

Google pagerank went back to 0While nowadays I don’t believe in PageRank as much as I used to (it was my religion for two-three years), I can’t help but judge a site’s popularity by it. Whether I’m thinking of it’s reputation or whether I want to buy a link, in the end PageRank does affect me. The thing though, is that it’s not far from the truth.

When I see a good PageRank on a site’s main page, I’m sure that either the site’s content quality is very good, therefore getting lots of links and attention, or the site’s creator is trying to increase popularity by constantly getting new links. Either way, these are great indications that a site is still active and it would be a good resource for me to look at.

There are also times that PageRank is misleading. For example: Read more…

Can I make it online?

Many people ask me what I do for a living and if they can also do what I do. Not many have the patience for Internet Marketing but one thing is for sure. They can do it and so can you! It’s not a matter of I.Q., huge knowledge or technical background. Sure, it will help having all of the above, or at least some of them, but nothing can stop you from doing what you love. And now, I have a new amazing example, Bradley!

By reading an interview of Bradley Nordstrom,  I’ve just found a new way to answer to whoever  thinks they don’t have what it takes to make it online. The kid is 11 years old and he’s crushing it online! If an 11-year-old can do it, then so can you! Read more…

Having a website is not a Hobby!

Having a website is not a hobby!

I got the idea for this post by observing my twitter feed and from watching my friend Vassilis online at 5:30 am.. I am a huge twitter fan, because I can easily see what people that I am interested in, are reading, creating and promoting. Therefore, the second I decided to take Moneytized seriously, I erased all the people that:

  • Had nothing useful to say
  • Reported their nature calls
  • Spammed like crazy every affiliate offer they could get their hands on.
  • And so on and so forth… Read more…

On doing that 5% More

doing 5% more than your competitionIt is a common saying that to be able to excel in business you have to be at least a little bit better than your competition. It might seem a bit childish as a thing to believe in but actually it’s true. To become a powerful player in your niche, no matter what market you’re into, you’ll have to be better than your competition in everything.

As an inspirational speaker on Ted mentioned, (and please if you can remember the talk, do send me the link) buyers are becoming more conscious of their buying habits and they are requesting a lot more than simply a product. They are much more demanding because now their money is more important to them. Therefore, beating your competition is not only about marketing and how to play with profit margins, but it’s also an effort that should be spread across every level of your organization, no matter how big or small it is.
